The Methodist church edifice was built in 1829 and enlarged in 1852. The first class was

formed in 18096 by reverends James Akens and Samuel Harvey. The old Attleborough

circuit was formed after Bristol became a station, and embraced a large section of country.

Established 1683, Friends' meetings were first established at Middletown in 1682, and held at

the houses of Nicholas Walne, John Otter and Robert Hall. the first meeting house was built

in 1690m, bear Neshaminy creek, a mile west of Langhorne, whither it was removed in 1734,

the present house in the town being the third. In 1684 Middletown's fist meeting for

worship was held and the first school in the area begun. The present meetinghouse was

completed in 1793. Edward Hicks married Sarah Worstall here in 1803. "Today's Quakers in
