| Flatland Mennonite meeting house was erected in 1837 by members of the Swamp and |
| Springfield Congregations belonging to the Franconia Conference. Jacob Benner & John |
| Landis, Trustees purchased this one acre of land for $5.00. The building committee was |
| George Landis, Jacob Benner and Peter martin. In the north wall is a stone with the date |
| 1837 and the names P. martin, G. Landis and J. Bener (sp) cut upon it. In 1837 George |
| Landis was ordained as the first resident minister and Jacob Benner was ordained as Deacon. |
