A son of the late Alan Cook and Isabelle Fretz Lippincott. Mr. Cook was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Riegelsville.

Mary was born in Germantown, Pa. on March 26, 1912.

A lifelong member of Abington Friends Meeting, her remains rest in the family plot in the Meeting House burial grounds with her husband; her parents, Frank Palin and Helen Sensenderfer Spruance; and her brother F. Palin "Sonny") Spruance Jr.

Mary attended Abington Friends and Friends Central Schools.

She was the beloved wife of Nicholas A. Arrigo. They had celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in March 2003.

Born Jan. 11, 1923 in Locksbottom, Farmborough, Kent, England, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Leonore (Hillman) Dabner.

She was born in Hilltown and was the daughter of the late Harvey and Mary (Shaddinger) Baum. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Rachel Rosenberger and May Tice; four brothers, Charles, Harold, Wilmer and Alfred Baum; and three nephews, Harold, Alvin and Willard Rosenberger.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 30, at Anders-Detweiler Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 E. Broad St., Souderton, PA, where friends may meet with the family from 10 to 11 a.m.   Burial will take place at Deep Run Mennonite Cemetery West in Perkasie.

He was the husband of the former Martha Morris. The couple celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in May 2006.

Born May 12, 1923, in Washington, D.C., he was a son of the late George and Almira Trew Bean Sr.

He was the beloved husband of Leah Ruth Becker; and dear brother of Agnes Norup and the late Cuthbert Becker.

John proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He moved to West Amwell in 1963.
Nick was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and a graduate of Lambertville High School Class of 1948 where he had served as Vice President of its Alumni Association for many years. He was a member of the South Hunterdon Regional High School Football Booster Club and from the late 1950's through the late 1990's he assisted the football coaching staff of South Hunterdon as its team trainer.

 

He served in the Army, attaining the rank of corporal, during the Korean War and for more than 50 years he was a member of the Toscanni American Legion Post and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Lambertville.

After graduating from Nockamixon High School in 1938, Mrs. DeSousa worked as a seamstress and also as a waitress at the former WaWa Diner in Riegelsville.

been a salesman for more than half a century. Mr. Flowers was
very well known by tobacco dealers and citizens of these towns.

She was the wife of the late Clarence L. Holden.

Arthur R. Leatherman of Sellersville, formerly of Pipersville, went home to be with his Lord Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Rockhill Mennonite Community. He was 92.
He was the husband of the late Lulu S. (Swartz) Leatherman.
Arthur was born in Pipersville to the late Charles and Sarah (Rickert) Leatherman.
Arthur served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Germany.
He was employed by the former Elmer Strouse Masonry Contractor, the former Doylestown Building Company as a mason, the former Willard Hosiery Mill in Dublin and the former Doyle Hosiery Mill in Doylestown. Arthur worked for 10 years as a group leader in the grinding department for Standard Pressed Steel in Jenkintown, until retiring in 1971. He was employed as a maintenance man for Central Bucks School District until retiring in 1983.
Arthur volunteered at Doylestown Hospital from 1984 to 1999 with over 3,000 hours of time. He enjoyed woodshop projects and gardening. Arthur was a beekeeper at his home in Pipersville for 15 years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Perkasie where he formerly served as trustee, deacon and an usher.

He was the husband of Jean A. (Lapp) Mitchell who died May 8, 1987.

Born in Chalfont, he was a son of the late Owen and Lily (Tyson) Mitchell.

Mr. Mitchell owned and operated the former Robert L. Mitchell Insurance Agency, Perkasie, from 1950 until retiring in the late 1980s.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was attached to the Communications outfit with the First Battalion, 16th Infantry, served nine years and attained the rank of master sergeant. He was awarded the Silver Star, a citation for gallantry in action at El Guittar, Tunisia, on March 28, 1943, when wire lines leading to a Battalion Command Post were destroyed by heavy enemy artillery fire. He crossed exposed terrain and, although subjected to constant enemy fire, successfully repaired and maintained the communications. He served his country in North Africa, Normandy, Italy Campaign and Battle of the Bulge. In addition to the Silver Star, he was the recipient of the Purple Heart Medal and the Legion of Honor Medal for service to his country.

Born Dec. 26, 1935, in Quakertown, he was the son of Olga Florence (Snyder) Swope of Erwinna and the late Frank M. Swope.
Frank worked for the Delaware Canal for 38 years, retiring in January 2001. His grandfather and father were canal boatmen, and he was the fourth generation that worked on the Delaware Canal.

She was 83.
She was the wife of Howard M. Swope, who died in 1995.
Born Jan. 23, 1921, in Bridgeton Township, she was the daughter of the late Marshall and Irene (Pursell) Mills. She was a member of Upper Tinicum Lutheran Church in Tinicum Township.
SWOPE Frank   69 2/24/2005 Bucks County Herald 2/21/2005 Tinicum, Bucks, PA Quakertown, Bucks, PA Snyder   Frank Warren Swope of Tinicum Township died Monday, February 21, 2005, at his home, he was 69.  Born in Quakertown , PA he was a son of Olga Florence (Snyder) Swope of Erwinna, PA and the late Frank M. Swope.  Mr. Swope worked for the Delaware Canal State Park for 38 years until retiring in January 2001.  His grandfather and father were canal boatmen. 
A peacetime Army veteran, he was a 25 year member of the Delaware Valley Volunteer Fire Co.  A lifetime member of the Tinicum Gun Club, he was an avid hunter and sportsman.  He also enjoyed NASCAR racing and gardening. He was a member of Tinicum United Church of Christ.    His mother survives him. Interment will be in Upper Tinicum Cemetery, Tinicum Township

TINSMAN William, Jr.   91 10/29/2009 Intelligencer 10/28/2009   Sept. 7, 1918 Fell Dolph William attended Greenhill Elementary School from 1924 to 1932; Doylestown High School from 1932 to 1936; and Rutgers University from 1936 to 1940.
He served in the Chemical Warfare Service Band, Edgewood Arsenal, in Maryland from April 1941 until May 1942.
A veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, he served from May 1942 to August 1945, and flew 21 combat missions from England, over Europe. He was a co-pilot on a B-24 Liberator bomber that was shot down over Germany and was interned in Switzerland for nine months before escaping. He was discharged in August 1945.
He was a partner in William Tinsman & Sons from 1940 to 1970 and president of Tinsman Bros. Inc. from 1970 to 1988, where he remained active in the office daily until recently.
He served as bank director for Doylestown National, now PNC., from the late 1940s to the early 1990s. He was Solebury Township Supervisor from 1952 to 1958 and chairman from 1954 to 1958.
Mr. Tinsman was a leader for Boy Scouts of America Troop 64, Carversville, for several years. He was a member of Solebury Friends Meeting, where he served as treasurer 20 years and trustee for nearly 50 years. He was a member of the Phillips Mill Community Association, having served on the board of directors for several years and the house/grounds committee.
Mr. Tinsman was cofounder of the Paunacussing Watershed.

He was a resident of Fountainville for 54 years, before moving to the Lutheran Community last year.

Born in Bedminster Township, he was the son of the late William and Annie (Derstine) Trauger.

Mrs. Werner operated the Rosemont Stables, Bethlehem, from 1939 to 1953.

Michael Zelenak Jr. of Morrisville died Friday, May 28, 2010, in Fox Subacute Care Center, Plymouth Meeting, Pa. He was 90.

Born in Morrisville, Mr. Zelenak had been a lifelong resident of Morrisville.

Mr. Zelenak was self-employed and operator of Mike's Auto Repair in Morrisville for more than 40 years. Ater his retirement, he worked at the machine shop at NAPA in Morrisville.

He served in the Army during World War II under General George Patton in the 1st Armored Division in the African and European Theaters and was a recipient of the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.

Mike served as president of the Motor Vehicles Inspection Unit for Bucks County.

He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He also was a member of Morrisville Senior Service Center.

Mike enjoyed collecting things, recycling and Polka music.

Son of the late Michael Sr. and Anna (Vereb) Zelenak, he is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Alice (Krier) Zelenak; his five children
ZIEGENFUSS Theodore   91 4/26/2010 Intelligencer 4/24/2010 New Hope Bucks County PA   Claussen   Theodore C. Ziegenfuss a longtime resident of New Hope died Saturday, April 24, 2010, of causes incident to age. He was 91.

Ted was born March 31, 1919 to Frank S. and Bertha Claussen Ziegenfuss.  He was a 1937 graduate of Newtown High School.

Mr. Ziegenfuss served honorably in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, successfully completing 29 missions over Germany. He received a Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal GO 63 with two oak leaf clusters and a European African Middle Eastern Silver Medal.
