Jesse Worthington, aged 76 years, died Monday afternoon at his home in Buckingham township. He had been in ill health for a year, but seriously ill for only a week. Mr. Worthington was a son of the late Joseph and Charlotte (Bodine) Worthington, of Rushland. For some years he was in business as a cattle dealer. The deceased married Miss Kooker of Pineville. Surviving him is one brother, Howard of Langhorne, and one granddaughter.

Obituary from the Bucks County Intelligencer of 2/6/1919:

Kooker, Samuel 16 12/27/1918

"Pneumonia _________ was the cause of death of Samuel Kooker at 10 a. m., Friday December 27th, at the home of his aunt, Mrs. T. T. Eastburn, in Dawson, North Dakota. Samuel had been working for the Northern Pacific Railway at Jamison during the past two months, and about two weeks prior to his death contracted influenza, and after being confined to the house for a little over a week returned to Dawson, when pneumonia set in and from that time on his battle for life was a feeble one. Short funeral services were held from the home of his grandmother, Mrs. Jacob Kooker, Sunday afternoon after which the remains were taken to the Congregational church, where public services were held conducted by Rev. C. W. Davis, and attended by a large concourse of friends of the deceased, despite the stormy weather that prevailed. Featuring the services at the church were two vocal solos rendered by Miss Esther Lewis, a school-mate of the deceased, "One Sweetly Solemn Thought" and "The Song the Angels Sang," accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Fred Derouin. The pall-bearers were members of the Dawson Home Guard of which Samuel was one of the charter members, being Fred Derouin, Harold Finch, George Bope, Orin Thompson, Albert Anderson and Paul Parkin. The remains were laid to rest in the Dawson cemetery beside those of his grandfather, who passed away August 1st last. Samuel Kooker was born August 6, 1902, at Mechanicsville, Penna., and at the time of his death was 16 years, 4 months and 21 days of age. He was the son of Benjamin F. and the late Lillian Major Kooker, who died when Samuel was 6 years of age. Since his mother's death he had made his home with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Kooker, going with them to Dawson four years ago, who made their home with their son, J. A. Kooker. He attended the Dawson school, graduating eighth grade in 1917. He also attended the Congregational church and Sunday school and was a member of the Victor class. He leaves besides his father, a brother, Ray and sister, Alice, besides numerous other relatives."

Dakota, died at 5 a. m., Sunday, Feb. 17, in a local hospital at Bismarck, following an operation on an eye that was injured in an explosion several years ago. A cancerous growth had developed near the brain. Funeral services were held the following Wednesday at the First Congregational Church in Dawson, N. D., with interment in the Dawson cemetery. Mr. Kooker was born near Pineville, Pa., and at one time was head clerk in H. F. Molloy's store, later conducting the store at Penn's Park. In 1921 he moved to Killdeer and opened a café. He was still engaged in that business at the time of his death. His happy genial disposition won many friends. He is survived by two children, Edith Louise and James Grant, Jr., living at Collingswood, N. J., and the following brothers and sisters: Benjamin F. Kooker, Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. T. T. Eastburn and Miss Alice R. Kooker, both of Bismarck; Robert M. Kooker, of Robinson, N. D.; Joseph A. Kooker, Dawson, N. D., and Mrs. Orville Hicks, Phillipsburg, N. J."

In 1910 in the Bucks County census, Ada Urian is listed as living on Guinea Lane in Warwick Township, working as a hired girl for a Haddens S. Worthington family. She is there listed as of Pennsylvania-born parents, she being born there, herself, but, in actuality, it may be she had a father from foreign parts -- perhaps Sweden -- and was illegitimately born.- VES.

"Guinea Lane is off of Almshouse Rd. in Warwick, Bucks C[oun]ty. The poorhouse or almshouse was indeed a place for the indigent in the area and the author James Michener lived there at one point as a youngster."

I had heard that Robert (?) Russell whom I believe put Caroline out and would have nothing to do with her. When she passed she was living in Philly with a Mrs or Miss Macoon (or something that sounded like racoon that is how I remembered it).- Caroline Bills.

Joseph Roberts goes from Thaddeus Worthington's farm to John Jamison's, near by.

History

During the 1953 season, Frontiertown opened at the end of the miniature railroad ride when it was extended across Pine Run Creek. It featured buildings such as an old bottle shop made of bottles, a barber shop, a dance hall, a fully-operating general store, the Silver Dollar Bar (replete with a year-round liquor license and a wagon wheel covered with actual silver dollars!), and a western-style restaurant. Later Lusse added a facsimile of Fort Dearborn and hired Chief One Star, a Cherokee Indian who lived on nearby Haycock Mountain, and Chief Halftown, a local television personality, to appear at the fort. Chief One Star's activities gradually increased until he was entertaining groups of school children on a daily basis. The chief led the children through Frontiertown and the park on hunts for arrowheads, which were often found. He taught them how to identify trees and recognize various animal footprints. He also contributed many Indian artifacts for display at Frontiertown. And with twelve male and female Indian suits, Chief One Star and his tribe even staged mock holdups on the miniature railway.

I have a friend who actually knew him. He came to Haycock Twp to the Indian Lore at the Jewish Camp "Kahagon." He was an Oklahoma Cherokee and discovered "fire water" up on Haycock Mountain and died an alcoholic. His grave is by Keller's Church.... My friend Ed, has photos and documentation on his death. He lived with a man by the name of Benjamin Surket.

From the directions I got he is not actually buried in the churchyard but on someone's property. Going to check it out.

I went to the Quakertown Historical society meeting tonight and it turns out the oil painting of an Indian on the wall where we often have breakfast is Chief One Star. I will ask if I can take a photo. There were other names who actually new him.

There is also a large mural in what once was the Mountainside Hotel and I know the new owners, will ask if they still have it.

Now: Ada Mary URIAN m. Joseph in 1912. She has a son June 1914. Before the war. Then a couple or few months later, Joseph likely entered that war. Before there could have been a second child. Yet, Ada is known to have had a son by another man before too much time had passed. This would seem to indicate her husband and she either had a divorce, or, I am suggesting, he was killed in that war, as the citation above refers to a Philadelphia Joseph RUSSELL.- VES.
