This is a photo of the foundation of a residence of Eli Vanluvanee and Susan Swope. The home was built by Henry Rickert c: 1805. Eli and Susan owned the house 1884-1899, well after their 12 children were grown and gone. It backs up to a creek. Prior to this residence they lived on Fleecydale Road in Carversville, Solebury Township. Eli died in 1889 and Susan died in 1916.

A Dr. DeWitt C. Brugler came to Carversville approximately 1870, he was a very shrewd business man. “At one time he was asked by the Widow Vanluvanee to buy her horse. He looked it over and found a dozen things wrong with it. Mrs. Vanluvanee said, “By God, Brug, you’ve missed one thing; it’s got a hole in its a…” (Edwin Harrington, 1834-1894 – The Hillside Home, 1874)
