~ Hulmeville

Borough on the Neshaminy Creek, originally part of southwestern Middletown Township until 1872.  First Name was Milford and then DeHoulme for the Hulme, which is of Normal origin, family.  George Hulme arrived about 1700 from Tillston Cheshire.
Hulmeville's original name was Milford.

 I attended school at Hulmeville Elementary which is now a day care center. The school bus would drive up my driveway to pick me up. Hulmeville is on the Neshaminy creek down Bellevue Avenue from Penndel (South Langhorne). Some of the creek side residences flood and often can not be re built. Beechwood Cemetery is across the Neshaminy up on a hill overlooking the town. Joseph Canby is buried there along with other familiar names to the area. The original mill is still there and I believe is still being used as a flea market or antique business. The town has not really changed much in the last 50 years, due in most part, because of it's location. It is in a hollow of sorts.

Dec 18 Hulmeville Happenings 

A birthday surprise party was tendered Mr. and Mrs. James Praul, on Monday evening. About seventy relatives and friends including the members of the Ladies Aid of the Neshaminy M.E, Church enjoyed the occasion.  The evening was spent playing games of various kinds, music and singing.  After enjoying a bountiful repast the guest returned homeward, after widhing Mr. and Mrs. Praul many happy birthdays.  Those present were:
