He was employed by the former Elmer Strouse Masonry Contractor, the former Doylestown Building Company as a mason, the former Willard Hosiery Mill in Dublin and the former Doyle Hosiery Mill in Doylestown. Arthur worked for 10 years as a group leader in the grinding department for Standard Pressed Steel in Jenkintown, until retiring in 1971. He was employed as a maintenance man for Central Bucks School District until retiring in 1983. Arthur volunteered at Doylestown Hospital from 1984 to 1999 with over 3,000 hours of time. He enjoyed woodshop projects and gardening. Arthur was a beekeeper at his home in Pipersville for 15 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Perkasie where he formerly served as trustee, deacon and an usher. |

2, 2009, in the Rockhill Mennonite Community, West Rockhill Township. He was
91. He was the husband of Jean A. (Lapp) Mitchell who died May 8, 1987. Born in Chalfont, he was a son of the late Owen and Lily (Tyson) Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell owned and operated the former Robert L. Mitchell Insurance Agency, Perkasie, from 1950 until retiring in the late 1980s. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was attached to the Communications outfit with the First Battalion, 16th Infantry, served nine years and attained the rank of master sergeant. He was awarded the Silver Star, a citation for gallantry in action at El Guittar, Tunisia, on March 28, 1943, when wire lines leading to a Battalion Command Post were destroyed by heavy enemy artillery fire. He crossed exposed terrain and, although subjected to constant enemy fire, successfully repaired and maintained the communications. He served his country in North Africa, Normandy, Italy Campaign and Battle of the Bulge. In addition to the Silver Star, he was the recipient of the Purple Heart Medal and the Legion of Honor Medal for service to his country. |

Doylestown High School from 1932 to 1936; and Rutgers University from 1936 to
1940. He served in the Chemical Warfare Service Band, Edgewood Arsenal, in Maryland from April 1941 until May 1942. A veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, he served from May 1942 to August 1945, and flew 21 combat missions from England, over Europe. He was a co-pilot on a B-24 Liberator bomber that was shot down over Germany and was interned in Switzerland for nine months before escaping. He was discharged in August 1945. He was a partner in William Tinsman & Sons from 1940 to 1970 and president of Tinsman Bros. Inc. from 1970 to 1988, where he remained active in the office daily until recently. He served as bank director for Doylestown National, now PNC., from the late 1940s to the early 1990s. He was Solebury Township Supervisor from 1952 to 1958 and chairman from 1954 to 1958. Mr. Tinsman was a leader for Boy Scouts of America Troop 64, Carversville, for several years. He was a member of Solebury Friends Meeting, where he served as treasurer 20 years and trustee for nearly 50 years. He was a member of the Phillips Mill Community Association, having served on the board of directors for several years and the house/grounds committee. Mr. Tinsman was cofounder of the Paunacussing Watershed. |

He was 90. Born in Morrisville, Mr. Zelenak had been a lifelong resident of Morrisville. Mr. Zelenak was self-employed and operator of Mike's Auto Repair in Morrisville for more than 40 years. Ater his retirement, he worked at the machine shop at NAPA in Morrisville. He served in the Army during World War II under General George Patton in the 1st Armored Division in the African and European Theaters and was a recipient of the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Mike served as president of the Motor Vehicles Inspection Unit for Bucks County. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He also was a member of Morrisville Senior Service Center. Mike enjoyed collecting things, recycling and Polka music. Saturday, April 24, 2010, of causes incident to age. He was 91. Ted was born March 31, 1919 to Frank S. and Bertha Claussen Ziegenfuss. He was a 1937 graduate of Newtown High School. Mr. Ziegenfuss served honorably in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, successfully completing 29 missions over Germany. He received a Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal GO 63 with two oak leaf clusters and a European African Middle Eastern Silver Medal.
